Sunshine Coast Oral, Facial & Implant Specialists (SCOFIS) was opened at the Nucleus Medical Suites at Buderim Private Hospital in 2018 by Dr Trent Lincoln following long-term aspirations to return to the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
The practice is modern, welcoming and centrally located and we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by lush Buderim rainforest located 5 minutes from the stunning beaches of Mooloolaba.
Our vision at Sunshine Coast Oral, Facial & Implant Specialists is to provide exceptional care to the patients of the Sunshine Coast and develop enduring, collaborative relationships with referring practitioners.
At Sunshine Coast Oral, Facial & Implant Specialists, we offer consultations in our Buderim practice with a visiting consultation service at Noosa Private Hospital for patients located on the Northern end of the Sunshine Coast, Gympie or surrounds.
Selected patients are able to be surgically treated in our rooms in Buderim utilising local anaesthetics (numbing up) and we offer services under a general anaesthetic (put to sleep by an Anaesthetist) at Buderim Private, Nambour Selangor Private, Sunshine Coast Day Surgery, Sunshine Coast University Private and Noosa Private Hospitals.

Our Surgeons

Dr Trent Lincoln
Dr Trent Lincoln is a highly qualified, contemporarily trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon committed to delivering expert care in a compassionate and patient-focused manner. Dr Lincoln ensures that each patient’s experience is as comfortable and reassuring as possible—from the first consultation through to recovery. Dr Lincoln offers the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with special interests in:
- Dental implants
- Full Arch (All on X/4/6) Implants
- Remote Anchorage (complex) implants: zygomatic, pterygoid, nasal, trans-sinus
- Wisdom teeth removal
- Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery)
- Repair and reconstruction of traumatic facial injuries
After graduating in Medicine with Honours from Monash University, Dr Lincoln returned to Queensland to complete his residency at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. It was during this time, treating patients with complex facial trauma, that he discovered his passion for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr Lincoln then broadened his clinical experience working as a registrar in ENT and General Surgery in Rockhampton, before earning a competitive place in the University of Queensland’s lateral-entry Dentistry program. While studying Dentistry, he continued to work within the Oral and Maxillofacial units of Brisbane’s major hospitals.
Dr Lincoln went on to complete the rigorous Queensland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program. His training spanned leading hospitals including the Royal Brisbane & Women’s, Princess Alexandra, Mater, Lady Cilento Children’s, Ipswich, Logan, and a valuable year in Townsville, where he treated more complex and delayed presentations of maxillofacial conditions.
With a strong passion for dental implants, particularly full arch rehabilitation, Dr Lincoln pursued advanced training in zygomatic implants in Hong Kong in 2017 and zygomatic, nasal and pterygoid implants in Texas, USA in 2023. Subsequently, Dr Lincoln completed further training with world renowned Surgeons from France, Brazil and Spain. Dr Lincoln continues to refine his skills in dental implantology, bone and soft tissue grafting through global courses and conferences.
Dr Lincoln is an internationally published author and researcher, contributing to the fields of:
- Piezoelectric third molar removal
- Local anaesthetic techniques in oral surgery
- Paediatric orbital fractures
- Return-to-play protocols following facial injuries
Originally from west of Rockhampton, Dr Lincoln always envisioned life on the Coast. His wife Alison, a Sunshine Coast local, shared this vision, and together they embraced the region’s relaxed lifestyle, vibrant community, and stunning beaches as their family’s home. Dr Lincoln regularly visits Rockhampton and Brisbane to provide more convenient care for patients located in these areas.

Dr. Andrew Higgins
Dr Andrew Higgins is a fully qualified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with both medical and dental degrees and a fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS OMS). He practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery and has a particular interest in complex implant surgery and grafting, full arch dental implant restoration and dentoalveolar (wisdom tooth surgery) and facial trauma surgery.
Dr Higgins grew up on the Gold Coast and after finishing high school, he moved to Melbourne to study undergraduate medicine. He completed his medical degree in 2008 and over the next two years, worked as an intern and surgical resident, at various tertiary hospitals in Melbourne. He then moved back home to Queensland and undertook a surgical senior house officer job at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. It was here, working in the world-renowned maxillofacial surgery unit, he developed a keen interest in the specialty. This led to Dr Higgins being accepted as the first lateral entry student, to the James Cook University dental program. After graduating in 2015 with an academic prize, Dr Higgins was accepted onto the Queensland Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program.
He completed his next four years of advanced surgical training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Queensland Children’s Hospital, the Mater Hospital and Royal Darwin Hospital. This gave Dr Higgins a wide exposure to the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dentoalveolar, implant and grafting surgery, head and neck and reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma and temporomandibular joint surgery. He completed his fellowship exam in 2019 and was awarded the Robert M Cook Medal for the highest mark in Australia and New Zealand.
Dr Higgins regularly attends courses and conferences to keep up to date with the latest surgical techniques and treatments and is involved in teaching at multiple different courses.
Andrew’s interests outside of work include surfing and fitness and he is sports fanatic, with a particular interest in rugby league, rugby union and cricket. Andrew’s wife is also a surgeon on the Sunshine Coast and they have two young boys.
